AIESEC in Sri Lanka has initiated a large-scale SDG Facilitation project in the months of Febraury to April with the promise of empowering youth leaders to be responsible citizens and to change communities while engaging young people to work towards a better future for our country.

As an island-wide project, Youth4SriLanka attempts to engage 25000+ youth across 15+ districts, empowering them to be responsible citizens and educating them about the SDGs. The project brings together many stakeholders from the corporate sector as well as  public figures who are invited to be the Brand Ambassadors of the project.

“AIESEC has always strived to create young leaders across Sri Lanka. One way in which we aim to do this is through social leadership; taking actions to make the communities around us safer and more equitable to all. Youth4SriLanka is an initiative designed to make a positive impact towards social and environmental causes across the island”,said Mr Kaneel Dias, the Member Committee President of AIESEC In Sri Lanka, on this initiative.

“Youth for Sri Lanka is an initiative aligned with the SDGs and aims to uplift the communities in Sri Lanka through 5 projects in various parts of the island. I believe, as the youth, it’s high time we work towards the betterment of the community around us, and I invite everyone to join hands with us in making it a success.” are the words of Mr. Dishan Devakumara the Core Committee President of Youth4SriLanka.

Youth4SriLanka includes five large-scale projects extending over two months starting from the month of February. Project WeCare by Youth4SriLanka looks to provide quality rural infrastructure through the building of an osmosis purification system and conducting a health camp in the area. Project HerStage by Youth4SriLanka is an entrepreneurship competition for women looking to connect them with investors. Project Go Green is an initiative that focuses on reforestation whilst Project Blue Waves is a massive scale beach cleanup along the coastlines of Matara to Colombo. The Fifth and final project is Project Techzoid by Youth4SriLanka that aims at enhancing the digital knowledge of exurb schools by teaching computer programming basics.

AIESEC in Sri Lanka has always focused on youth leadership and conducted many projects aligned to empower youth such as the World’s Largest Lesson conducted in 2020, Youth4Youth in 2021 and Amplifier the largest island-wide leadership development program in 2022. Youth4SriLanka too will be one of the most significant events organized by AIESEC in Sri Lanka that will undoubtedly empower youth to contribute to sustainable development.

We encourage you to seize this chance to make a change for an unceasing improvement as a responsible citizen. All passionate young individuals who dream of a better future are welcome to join hands with us for this project to change communities.
