Advantis 3PL Plus, a member of the Hayleys Advantis Group, set yet another benchmark in the logistics sector by becoming the only Sri Lankan company to obtain the UKAS accredited ISO 22000:2018 certification in food safety management in the ‘storage, distribution and value-added services’ sector certified by SGS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.

Commenting on this new certification, the Managing Director of Hayleys Advantis Limited, Ruwan Waidyaratne said “We are proud to be the first logistics service provider in Sri Lanka to obtain a UKAS accredited ISO 22000:2018 certification. This milestone in our history is a clear indication of how we strive for continuous improvements by adopting new standards and refining current best practices to meet and surpass the requirements of global multi-national corporations.”

The UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Services) accredited ISO 22000:2018 certification maps out the requirements of an organisation to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards to ensure the safety of food throughout the handling process. The certification which applies to the company’s operations at the Advantis Logistics City in Kotugoda, and the Advantis Kelaniya Distribution Centre will guarantee the safety of food stored and handled for value-added services in the facilities.

“The new certification will assist the company in staying ahead of its competitors while adding value to customers by offering assurance on food safety and quality of products handled. As food safety management standards help organisations identify and control food safety hazards, it provides a layer of reassurance within the global supply chain, helping products cross borders and bring people food they can trust,” said Sheran Abeyesundere, Director/CEO of Advantis 3PL Plus.

Notably, the scope of registration for the certification covers warehouse operations and value-added services for packed finished products, including price stickering, labelling and banding of food items.

“We are delighted to be the facilitator for Advantis 3PL Plus in obtaining the ISO 22000:2018 certification, as the first 3PL service provider in Sri Lanka to obtain the UKAS accredited certification from us. In an era where food safety management is of utmost importance, carrying this certification will in no doubt benefit Advantis as well as all its stakeholders,” said Chamika Wimalasiri, Business Manager – Certification Services of SGS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.

In addition to being certified with ISO 22000:2018, Advantis 3PL Plus is also certified and adheres to standards in the areas of Quality Management (ISO 9001:2015), Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001:2018), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Goods Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Goods Distribution Practices (GDP), Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS), Global Recycle Standards (GRS) and Organic Content Standards (OCS).

SGS is the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, recognised as the global benchmark for quality and integrity and is accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Services) to provide credentials to companies.
