In a strategic move to manage the CSE listed entity that has been in existence for over 7 decades, leading flexible packaging manufacturing company Acme Printing and Packaging PLC recently announced the appointment of Harith Jayasuriya as its Director/CEO. In addition, Harith is expected to lead the Company’s fully owned subsidiary Acme Packaging Solutions (Pvt) Ltd in the same capacity and steer the entire Group into the next tier of growth
At a junction, where the local packing industry is affected by the aftermath of the pandemic, the economic distress and reduction of imports into the Country, technological advancements such as smart packaging which includes intelligent storage, inventory tracking and less physical handling pose opportunities for the industry. With clients and consumers moving away from traditional packaging and embracing sustainable packaging methodologies as a protective skin for food and non-food related products, this appointment is said to be strategically aligned as the company evolves into the next tier of growth, skewed to seize the opportunities available in an ever-changing dynamic global business environment.

With over two decades of business acumen, marketing experience and sales expertise across multiple industries such as Freight & Logistics, Travel &Tourism, Shipping & Aviation, Strategic Planning, Marketing, Sales, General Management and Consultancy, Harith comes from an illustrious career background, having worked for some of the largest organizations. Prior to his appointment at Acme Printing and Packaging PLC, he was the Group Director/Chief Marketing Officer of MAC Holdings (Pvt) Ltd and the Chief Executive Officer of MAC Travels (Pvt) Ltd before being appointed to the Board. He has also served Marine & Air Consolidations (Pvt) Ltd and Coats Thread Lanka (Pvt) Ltd in various capacities.
A fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK (FCIM-UK), Harith holds and master’s in business administration from University of Wales – Cardiff and an Advance Certificate in Executive Management from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), Sri Lanka.
Incorporated in 1949 as an Aluminum foil with the purpose of providing packaging material for the Tea industry of Sri Lanka, Acme Printing and Packaging PLC has grown leaps and bounds with the capability of supplying printed flexible packing material using Roto Gravure and Flexo Graphic printing technologies for various forms of laminates with foil, film and paper.
Acme Printing and Packing PLC is a subsidiary of Lankem Ceylon PLC. The other members of the Board of Directors are Mr. A. Hettiarachchy, Mr S.D.R Arudpragasam , Mr. R.
