AB Mauri Lanka, a leading supplier of high-quality ingredients and yeast for Sri Lanka’s bakery industry, is set to commemorate International Women’s Day 2025 with its flagship event, “Empower Her”, on March 2, 2025, at the Sheraton Colombo Hotel, Colombo. This initiative reaffirms AB Mauri Lanka’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and women’s empowerment by encouraging and supporting skill development while also celebrating the achievements of women in the baking industry. The Company believes that by imparting bakery industry skills to women, they will be encouraged to achieve economic empowerment and job creation.

As part of this initiative, AB Mauri Lanka will award 20 full scholarships under the Empower Her Scholarship Program, offering comprehensive training to women who aspire to build careers in the baking industry. The program aims to empower women in economically challenged circumstances and those on state welfare programme Aswasuma , particularly single parents and primary income earners, by equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to establish their own businesses and achieve financial independence.

The event will feature an inspiring keynote address by a leading female pioneer in the baking industry, who will share her personal journey and experiences to motivate attendees. A dynamic panel discussion will bring together accomplished women to discuss key topics such as personal styling, women’s rights, managing stress and mental wellness along with empowerment in baking.

In addition to these insightful discussions, the event will provide networking opportunities where attendees can engage with industry professionals, share experiences, and build meaningful connections within a supportive community. The celebration will conclude with a special ceremony honoring the scholarship recipients, marking the beginning of their journey toward empowerment and success.

This initiative is a key component of AB Mauri Lanka’s broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, which seeks to create lasting social impact by addressing critical issues such as gender equality, education, and health. By investing in skills development and providing opportunities for women to thrive in the baking industry, AB Mauri Lanka is committed to fostering a more inclusive and equitable future.

Applications for the Empower Her Scholarship Program are open until February 20, 2025, with interviews and aptitude tests scheduled for February 22, 2025. The final list of scholarship recipients will be announced on February 24, 2025.
