A petition filed against the Sri Lanka Rugby Federation was settled

A petition challenging the drafting of a new constitution for the Sri Lanka Rugby Federation was settled before the Court of Appeal yesterday.

The petition was filed by Mr. Roshan Dean, Secretary of the Western Province Rugby Union. The petition was filed by Mohammad Lafar Tahir and P. He was summoned yesterday before the Appellate Court bench comprising Mr. Kumaran Ratnam.

When the petition was called, Additional Solicitor General Mr. Sumathi Dharmawardena, who represented the respondents, stated before the court that the Secretary of the Ministry of Sports has decided to hold the election to appoint officials for the Sri Lanka Rugby Federation.

He said that a committee consisting of three members, including a member of the Rugby Union and the Olympic Committee, will be appointed for that purpose.

He said that the committee will approve the list of voters for the election, after which the officers will be selected.

The Additional Solicitor General also mentioned that after the selection of those officers, they have the ability to amend the constitution of the Rugby Federation.

After both parties agreed to the terms, the relevant petition was ordered to be settled.
