The Inaugural Ceremony of the 7th UIU-International Conference on Sustainable Development (7th UIU-ICSD) was held on 19 February 2024 Monday at UIU Campus, United City, Madani Avenue, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Institute of Development Studies and Sustainability (IDSS) of United International University (UIU), Bangladesh organizes this conference on February 19-20 every year.
Emeritus Professor Dr. M A Sattar Mandal, Department of Agricultural Economics, Former Vice Chancellor, Bangladesh Agricultural University and Former Member, Planning Commission of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest. The Vice Chancellor of UIU Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia presided over the inaugural ceremony. Prof. Dr. Hamidul Huq, Director, IDSS and Convener, 7th UIU-ICSD 2024 started the inaugural session with his welcome speech and research spoke about the Bangladesh Delta Plan and sustainable development in Bangladesh.
Some insightful thoughts and steps for SDGs attainment came out from this session. A rich audience having representatives from government, universities, research organizations, foreign missions, national and international NGOs and civil society made the inaugural ceremony a success.
This ICSD aims to create a research-based knowledge sharing platform to notify Policy decisions, Research activities towards attaining the challenges of sustainable development at national, regional and international levels. This year’s conference received a total of 102 papers under 06 different themes and 82 papers were selected for presentation. Except Bangladesh papers came from Asia, North America and Oceania countries like India, Japan, Nepal, Australia, Canada, Netherlands and USA etc.
