Mihin Jayavidhu Liyanaarachchee, the popular online economics tutor, who introduced the first online tutoring class and the first and only lesson set prepared for the subject of Economics for Advanced Level (A/L) classes, was awarded as the Best Online Education Entrepreneur of the Year at Pinnacle Sri Lanka Awards 2023. The gala award ceremony organised by the MUGP International was recently held at the Grand Ballroom of Galleface Hotel in Colombo.
Liyanaraachchee has secured a B.Sc degree in Entrepreneurship from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and is currently reading for a Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship at the same university. He has been conducting economics tuition classes for A/L students through online platforms since 2015. He has currently become the most popular tutor on every social media platform such as Facebook (Mihin Liyanaarachchee – Sri Lankan Econ Trust), YouTube (Mihin Liyanaarachchee), Telegram and TikTok. In addition to conducting classes online, Liyanaarachchee has also published a series of lessons on social media platforms that cover the entire A/L economics syllabus to help any student learn the subject. Having prepared an effective system to continue teaching via social media groups even during the Covid-19 pandemic, he was the first tutor who gave access to the students in all parts of the country to join his online classes free of charge during Covid-19 lockdown. The platforms that he developed during the pandemic have now attracted nearly 10,000 students from each district. Students who attend online classes conducted by him can receive many benefits such as more class hours, high-quality papers and tutes, availability of web recordings and repeat classes and ability to attend classes at flexible times.
