Mandara Resort in Mirissa to get new 40-room complex worth Rs. 500 million

The Chairman of the Mandara Group of Hotels, Sagara Palihawadana says that Mandara Resort in Mirissa, a leading tourist hotel in Sri Lanka which attracts both local and foreign tourists in large number, is ready to build a new complex with 40 luxury rooms with an investment of Rs. 500 million. According to Director Thilini Palihawadana, the new project is being implemented with the aim of increasing the number of rooms at Resort to 100 in order to successfully facilitate increasing tourist arrivals. The Resort has 17 Standard Lagoon rooms, 25 Superior Sea View rooms, 4 Superior Plunge Pool rooms,10 Deluxe Family rooms and two Deluxe Double rooms at present.

The Resort which includes its main restaurant which can accommodate 85 guests, the Grand Mandara banquet hall which can accommodate 200 guests, as well as the main bar, beach bar, spa, gym, swimming pool and gem shop, is very popular among tourists, particularly Europeans, said Director Ryan Gonawela. Mandara Resort is located on one side bordering the Polathumodara river, and facing a stunning beach. The reason why the Resort has attracted many both local and foreign tourists is that it is located in a land filled with natural beauty. It has become the leading choice of many for indoor and outdoor weddings, particularly due to its beautiful environment.

The Group General Manager Pathmasiri Liyanage said that tourists visiting the Resort at present can enjoy a 35% discount on HSBC, HNB, NTB, DFCC and Standard Chartered credit cards. The Resort is currently in the process of building a Kids Area for children to play in the future, while arrangements are also being made to run a special weekend dinner buffet with music and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
