Get ready for Sri Lanka’s ‘most wanted’ celebration of Country and Folk Music, as the Country Roads concert for children soon returns for its landmark 35th anniversary edition.
2023’s concert is scheduled for Saturday, October 7th, 2023, at the Virticle by Jetwing, a fabulous venue located on the heavenly 30th floor of Access Towers in Union Place, Colombo 2.
Headliners at this year’s concert will be the Mavericks from Germany, as well as UK’s Astrid Brook, who are exceedingly excited to return to once again entertain Sri Lankan audiences. And considering their popularity at previous concerts, they will undoubtedly be welcomed back with open arms. Local favourites Cosmic Rays, and the Country Revival Band with Feizal and Jury, will join them on stage.
Excitingly, since Virticle by Jetwing is renowned for its stunning panoramic views of Colombo’s beautiful cityscape, this venue and by extension Colombo city, for the first time ever, will also serve as an added attraction or ‘act’ for this concert, blending in both a unique and exceptional ambiance, as well as sumptuous food, with the raucous fun of the evening’s entertainment.
The 35th anniversary edition of the Country Roads concert for children will be supported by Official Venue, Virticle by Jetwing, and Official Airline, SriLankan Airlines, as well as its other partners, Jetwing Colombo Seven, Cargills, LOLC, and Firefly.
An entirely charitable undertaking, which is staffed totally by volunteers, the Country Roads concert for children has consistently donated 100% of its proceeds to children’s charities in Sri Lanka. Over the past 35 years, this has resulted in several million rupees worth of aid, all of which has contributed directly to addressing the most pressing issues faced by children in Sri Lanka, a common practice since the concert’s first edition was held in 1988.
Keep an eye out for more details on the Country Roads concert for children FB page, which will soon be updated with ticket sales locations and availability. Tickets will be priced at Rs. 2,000 per ticket on an open seating basis limited to 250 seats.
