Ayodhya Iddawela Perera poised to lead Sampath Bank as its next Managing Director

Ayodhya Iddawela Perera will take over as the next Managing Director of Sampath Bank PLC effective from the 1st of July 2023. She will succeed the incumbent Managing Director, Nanda Fernando, who will conclude his term in office on the 30th of June 2023, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, excellence, and service to the Bank.

Having pursued a Master of Business Administration at the Postgraduate Institute of Management of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Ayodhya has had an illustrious career at Sampath Bank spanning more than three decades. She is a reputable figure in the industry and possesses expertise across the industry with a notable focus on Corporate Banking, International Banking and Credit Control. Her remarkable growth trajectory, expertise and significant contribution to the Banking industry has been recognised over the years and she was bestowed with the prestigious “Senior Fellowship” from the Institute of Bankers – Sri Lanka in 2023.

Renowned for her leadership style rooted in values and her unwavering faith in the potential of teamwork, Ayodhya has effectively nurtured a collaborative culture at Sampath Bank, a core strength that has propelled the institution forward. She has set her sights on broadening the horizons of the banking industry in Sri Lanka and is driven by a vision to contribute to the nation’s economy with an aspiration to make substantial strides in her new role at Sampath Bank.
