The Central Bank of Sri Lanka issues a Coin to mark the 75th Independence Celebration of Sri Lanka

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) issued an uncirculated commemorative coin in the denomination of Rupees 1000 to mark the 75th Independence Day Celebration in the country, which falls on 04.02.2023. This is the 71st commemorative coin that was issued by the Central Bank. The detailed description and specifications of the coin are given below.

The first coin was officially presented to Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President of Sri Lanka by Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of CBSL at the President’s House at Kandy, today.

The coin will be issued in an attractive presentation box with a certificate of authenticity. A limited number of coins are available for purchase from March 2023 and coins will be sold through the CBSL Sales Counters at the Economic History Museum, Central Point Building, No. 54, Chatham Street, Colombo 01, and CBSL Regional Offices in Anuradhapura, Matale, Matara, Trincomalee, Kilinochchi, and Nuwara Eliya. The public will be notified of the selling price of the coin and date of availability for sale in due course.
