Over 75 umpires took part in the National Umpire Accreditation Course, conducted by Sri Lanka Badminton, marked its successful completion at the National Institute of Sport Science, Colombo.
The two-day course, held in conjunction with the 70th National Championship, saw umpires from every part of the country taking part.
The course was conducted in all three main languages, marking another milestone for badminton in Sri Lanka.
Apart from fully involved trainers and umpires, individuals such as government and private sector employees and bankers also enrolled for the course, where a written exam as well as a practical test was conducted following the academic sessions.
Most of the successful candidates from the course will officiates as line judges at the Nationals which begin on Monday.
