The pandemic has seen the rise and fall in the importance of various services, out of which technology and digital transformation and HR-related services that include talent management, have in particular experienced a robust boost in their pertinence . As such, organizations are transforming and emerging from the pandemic to more fully become social enterprises, promising workers greater belonging without compromising individuality, job security through reinvention, and new opportunities from uncertainty.

Given this context, SLASSCOM, Sri Lanka’s national chamber for the IT/BPM industry, recently signed an MOU with the Association of Human Resource Professionals (AHRP) in an effort to tie in the world of HR with that of technology. Overall, this MOU will see both SLASSCOM and AHRP helping companies in Sri Lanka gain greater value through the fusion of technology and human resources.

AHRP is the only professional network of practicing HR professionals in Sri Lanka, boasting a 20-year history. It has made significant contributions to uplifting the standards of the HR profession in the country through a host of initiatives and interventions over the years. The organization works towards being a catalyst in building the nation’s human talent, sharing the latest best practices amongst the member fraternity and offering a world-recognized professional certification for HR practitioners in the country through the partnership with SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) the world’s largest HR organization.

This ties in with SLASSCOM’s long-term goal of uplifting the country’s economy, specifically through the IT/BPM industry. As such, through this MOU, both entities will empower people to be productive with technology, creating lasting value for the workforce and the organization. Utilizing their collective expertise, both entities will jointly organize events and collaborate on workshops that create capacity on niche skills that are in demand in the IT/BPM Industry. They will also facilitate the provision of relevant experts to conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and tap into one another’s networks of professional and industry contacts to support mutual objectives.

Present at this event were SLASSCOM Chairperson Sandra De Zoysa, AHRP President Ishan Dantanarayana, AHRP Senior Vice President Chandana Wijayanama, SLASSCOM HR Forum Director Shehani Seneviratne, AHRP Vice President (Partnerships) Oshana Dias , Executive Director of SLASSCOM  Chaminda De Silva along with other key personnel of both entities.

Speaking on the newly forged partnership, SLASSCOM Chairperson Sandra De Zoysa commented: “This MOU comes at a very crucial time for our industry where building the right talent for the industry has become paramount. SLASSCOM’s HR forum is a very vibrant and lively one and I am certain that we can enhance it even further through our latest partnership with AHRP.”

AHRP President Ishan Dantanarayana stated: “For the last 20 years, we have worked to uplift HR standards in the country through multiple initiatives that bring HR professionals to the forefront in their organizations. We support HR professionals & business leaders to strengthen their capacity in managing talent. We also support with information and create opportunities to get together and exchange ideas and thoughts through our Sri Lanka HR forum that connects professional organizations with AHRP. Much of the IT industry is very innovative, process-driven and technical. Since talent is a critical differentiator, through our services we can help build ‘people leaders’ who can tune into both the quantitative and qualitative with ease. This MOU will provide both of our organizations plenty of opportunities to partner as our mutual goal is to uplift the skills of our people.”

SLASSCOM is a trailblazer in the IT/BPM industry. With a membership of over 300, representing approximately 90% of Sri Lanka’s IT/BPM revenue, SLASSCOM drives the Imagination Economy: Sri Lanka’s ‘industry of the future’, with the potential to become the #1 export revenue earner for Sri Lanka by 2025. SLASSCOM is uniquely positioned to help lead the industry into a lucrative, sustainable and equitable future.
