In its standing as the National Body of Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will pay special attention to the newly legislated Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act by organising a virtual seminar to help clarify matters pertaining to the bill.
The virtual seminar will be held on Friday, 27 August from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm and will feature Attorney-at-Law Mr. Riad Ameen (L.L.M, L.L.B. Barrister of the Lincoln’s Inn) who will deliver a presentation on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act.
Following his presentation, Mr. Thulci Aluwihare, Assistant Managing Director at CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd will share his insights during a panel session, while Mr. Naomal Goonawatdena, fellow member of CA Sri Lanka and Attorney-at-Law will moderate the session.
The virtual seminar will focus on an extensive range of topics, including investment opportunities within the Port City, offshore banking business within the new city, as well as the nature of business operations within it, as well as exemptions and incentives granted for projects within the offshore city.
Matters pertaining to the applicability of local tax statues for persons operating within the Port City as well as the tax implications arising for those outside the Port City who provide goods and services to those within the city will also be discussed at length.
