Colombo. Monday 24th May 2021. ‘Rendez-Vous with Yasmin and Kumar’ will, this Sunday 30th May, feature Bruno Duparc, General Delegate and Co-ordinator of the Alliance Française (AF) for Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
A former teacher at the AF Sri Lanka in the 1980s, Bruno Duparc returns to Colombo after more than three decades and under his purview come the Alliance Française de Kotte in Colombo, Kandy, Matara, Galle, Jaffna and also the Maldives.
Recalling life in Colombo in the good old days, he also talks about the current position of the French language in Sri Lanka, at school and university levels and also as a very useful and effective tool of communication in the world at large.
Joining the show from France are Gauthier Willm, the Director of the AF at Ward Place in the 1980s and Deputy Director Gerard Narjoux, both legends of the same era.
Maya Manawamma who has been associated with the AF in Sri Lanka for the past forty plus years both as teacher and pedagogical co-ordinator also journeys down Memory Lane on the show.
Hosted at 7.00 pm on the 30th of each month on the YouTube channel of the Embassy of France in Colombo, this show, as its name suggests, will be a ‘meeting place’ highlighting Franco-Sri Lankan bilateral ties across the spheres of language, culture, literature, diplomacy, music, art and travel etc through French and Francophone personalities.
