Five undergraduates of the School of Accounting and Business (SAB) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) grabbed the first place at the “Virtual Financial Hackathon” organised by ACCA Sri Lanka recently beating a host of leading private universities in the country which vied for the top prize.

The CA Sri Lanka SAB team was led by five undergraduates, namely Dinukshi Samarawickrama (Team Leader), Tharukshi Gunasekera, Dilusha Perera, Nazirdeen Fathima Asna and Methmini Fernando who utilised their exceptional knowledge gained during the course of their study at CA Sri Lanka to beat their competitors.

The participating teams were provided with the opportunity to solve real life financial problems where they were able to apply their theoretical knowledge. The hackathon was also the perfect platform which allowed the participants to enhance their abilities to analyze real financial problems, make quick decisions and find solutions within a given time frame.
