As a founding partner of the Global Technology & Business Services Council (GT&BSC) –an alliance of leading regional associations representing the interest of the global technology and business services industry, Sri Lanka Association for Software Services Companies (SLASSCOM) will be presenting the council’s initial conference programme from 30 November – 1 December.
Formed as a global alliance between 12 major associations for technology and business services committed to collaborate and create a global vision for the future of the industry, the GT&BSC aims at developing new thinking to empower each local association to strengthen and coordinate the global technology and business services industry.
“The creation of the GT&BSC was inspired by the phenomenal global response across sourcing partnerships when the pandemic struck,” explains SLASSCOM Chairman Channa Manoharan. He notes: “This council was formed to acknowledge and appreciate the global technology and business services industry’s response to Covid-19, and to work together to create a global vision for the future of the industry.”
The event ‘ONE INDUSTRY. ONE VISION. TRULY GLOBAL’, signifies a world first, with the industry coming together in a global and collaborative manner, and will comprise presentations by leading keynote speakers, analysts and advisors from around the world, including SLASSCOM Chairman Channa Manoharan on 30 November 2020 who will participate in the discussion on the Global Response to COVID-19 & Global Collaboration for a Better Future, and Feroz Cader, Co-Head of LSEG Technology Sri Lanka who will share his views on the changing global operating models and then join the panel discussion on 01 December 2020 moderated by Phil Fersht, CEO of HfS Research.
The conference will be followed by a series of monthly deep dive episodes which will champion imperative matters including impact sourcing, supplier diversity, inclusion and belonging, modern slavery and sustainability, with the intent to drive significant change. The intent of the Council is to make an impact, but more so to make a difference.
Ashique Ali, SLASSCOM Vice Chairman and Council Member GT&BSC commented: “The critical intent of this series is to provide organisations around the world – buyers, service providers and advisors – with a vision for the future of the global technology and business services industry, focusing on the macro-economic perspective. All major themes and topics will then be debated and discussed as the series unfolds over the coming months, leaving delegates feeling highly motivated and passionate about the opportunities ahead of them, yet armed with clear ideas on how to handle the numerous challenges.”
“Being an active member of GT&BSC complements SLASSCOM’s philosophy of uplifting, enhancing and promoting Sri Lanka’s IT/BPM services and products on a global platform,” says Manoharan. Being engaged with the GT&BSC will strengthen SLASSCOM’s own efforts in pursuing the association’s Vision 2025 of achieving US$ 5 billion in revenue, 200,000 jobs and 1,000 start-ups, with global collaboration.
