Samaposha Celebrates World Children’s Day

CBL Samaposha, the nation’s favourite breakfast cereal, celebrated World Children’s Day and World Teachers Day on a grand scale this year by hosting an interesting range of enjoyable educational and entertainment activities.

As a subsidiary of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd (CBL Group), Plenty Foods (Pvt) Ltd, the manufacturer of CBL Samaposha, celebrated Children’s Day at multiple locations including Colombo’s Viharamahadevi Park, the Dehiwela Zoological Gardens and the Gampaha Henarathgoda Botanical Garden. Attending these events were crowds of enthusiastic children accompanied by their parents, teachers and adults.

At all event locations, Samaposha packets were distributed to everyone, ensuring children were well-nourished. Additionally, helping children enhance their knowledge, evoking happiness, a variety of exciting games and competitions were held throughout the day. Through these activities, the importance of a balanced and nutritious breakfast was highlighted creating awareness among the children and adults present.

Activities such as, the ‘Breakfast Puzzle’ and the ‘Breakfast Street Dramas’ enhanced the children’s creativity and unity and was appreciated and enthusiastically acknowledged by all those present.

For World Children’s Day, Samaposha also used its Facebook page, to promote activities that helped to refresh the children’s minds and also as a platform to create awareness among both the children and their parents on the importance of the programme ‘Daruwanta Idadenna’ which in turn received an extremely positive response from all adults.

Paying tribute to all teachers, who continuously support the well-being of future generations, Samaposha also commemorated World Teachers Day organising a special live programme.  Teachers from across the island participated at these events at the three locations and the expressions of gratitude showered upon the teachers brought about tearful moments for all those present.

Among the teachers who were recognised, the Principal of the the The Dippitigoda Roman Catholic Primary School, Nilmina Saman Sirisena said, “Appreciating teachers today is a task that very rarely takes place and by doing so today, CBL Samaposha as a locally respected organisation sends an important message.”

Commenting on the activities, Jayanga Perera, General Manager, Marketing, CBL Food Cluster noted, “We continuously focuses on building healthy and nourished future generations by highlighting the importance of a balanced breakfast. Through our islandwide programme ‘Breakfast eka Hari Wedagath’ we have been able to create awareness for both children and parents. Looking towards the future we aim to pursue activities similar to the Samaposha Children’s Day festival ensuring children continue to be well-nourished. Samaposha also firmly believes in its responsibility to uplift the sport’s standards of the younger generations to international levels. We have been honoured to sponsor numerous championships including the Provincial Athletics Meet, Inter-School Football Tournament, the Up-country and Junior Athletics Meets and the Mahaweli Athletics Meet, all on grand scales.”

A 12,000 strong local farmer base form the ‘CBL Govi Paula’ programme growing corn, rice, soya and green gram, for the manufacture of CBL Samaposha, ensuring the cereal nourishes and strengthens the nation’s young and adult population. Having won the trust and recognition of the public, Samaposha has undertaken the immense task of preserving to ensure future generations are well-nourished and able to face unfolding global challenges.
