Recognizing its unstinted contribution towards the Sri Lankan export economy, SriLankan Catering Limited was awarded the Presidential Export Award 2018/2019 for Best Exporter Award – Processed Food Sector at 23rd Presidential Export Awards ceremony at Colombo’s main international convention centre the BMICH held recently, under the patronage of His Excellency President Maithripala Sirisena.

Hon. Nalin Bandara , Deputy Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, presented the award to SriLankan Catering CEO Lalith Withana at the ceremony as recognition for its steadfast commitment to supporting the nation’s economy and the growth of the aviation industry.

The Presidential Export Awards (PEA) was introduced by Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB) in 1981 to recognize the contributions made by the export community towards national development.   The award winners represent excellence in export business, particularly in non-traditional products and services.

Lalith Withana, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Catering, said “2018/2019 financial year marks an important milestone for SriLankan Catering Limited (SLC) and we contribute 40 years of operations at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Colombo, Sri Lanka. In the past four decades, alongside the expansion of the BIA and simultaneously at SLC, our production volume has more than doubled while the operating facility has been expanded continuously to meet the upcoming challenges year by year. This is a remarkable achievement being the only responsible caterer which provide services at BIA with the guidance from the board of Directors of SriLankan Airlines.”

SLC has gained a reputation for its high standards in quality and food safety and holds no less than four global certifications – ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management System; ISO 22000:2005 for Food Safety Management Systems; HACCP-Codex Alimentarius for Food Safety Assurance; and ISO 14001:2015 for Best Environmental Practices. Among its many accolades are several Mercury Awards presented by the International Travel Catering Association (ITCA) and National Energy Efficiency Awards.
