Top Business Role Model Launches Swadeshi Khomba Baby Hoda Purudu for our kids of Sri Lanka

One of Sri Lanka’s top business personalities Ms. Amari Wijewardene the Chairperson of The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC who was recently awarded the ‘ Business Role Model of the year- 2019 by WIM/ IFC( World Bank) launched ‘ Khomba Baby Hoda Purudu” at the Helena Wijewardene Maha Vidyalaya, Kelaniya.

The signature launch was to commemorate Children’s Day celebrated on the 01st of October, 2019. ‘The 80 year old company fosters a strong family culture. Hence we want to instill in society, the need to practice good values and discipline bringing out good citizens.

Hence, the branded CSR project: ‘Khomba Baby Hoda Purudu’ was launched  voiced Ms. Wijewardene. The event was very special as the school ‘ Helena Wijewardena Maha Vidyalaya’ was built by our family around fifty years back, for the people of Kelaniya.

One of the top FMCG companies of Sri Lankan origin, The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC is one of the oldest organizations in the country with household brands like Rani Sandalwood Beauty Soap, Khomba Herbal Soap and Khomba Baby Soap. The flagship brand Khomba is Ranked the 2nd highest selling Soap in any retail outlets in the country. “ I am honored to lead this company which is focused in giving a Sri Lankan Household “Herbal products” manufactured to the highest quality standards whilst maintaining family values in our operations” said Ms Wijewardene.

The need to practice good values amongst children and creating citizens who really would contribute to the Sri Lankan society. The book encourages values such as protecting the environment, hygiene, love and care for animals, healthy balanced meal, spirituality, caring for the elderly ect. It is very important for us to instill such values in children at younger age. This will be shortly endorsed by a global agency and rolled out across the country.

This years WIM/ IFC ‘Top 50 Women Career Professionals award’s theme was “Empowered Women for Sustainable Growth”. The decision of the judges was unanimous that the Chairperson of Swadeshi depicted the best fit to be this year’s Business Role Model for Sri Lanka said the founder of WIM/ IFC ‘ Top 50 Women Career Professionals awards’ Dr Sulochana Segera. The company specialized in best quality skin care product using herbal ingredients that are mild and gentle on skin. At Swadeshi all products are made with 100% vegetarian and not tested on animals said a company spokesman.
