Country’s longest cycle race “SLT Speedup sawariya 2019” concluded successfully in Dambulla.

Sri Lanka’s longest across the country cycle race organized by the Sri Lanka Telecom successfully concluded on the 28th of September in Dambulla. Chamika Sandun Kumara of Sri Lanka Navy has been won the overall championship of the 5-days race securing the first prize of Rs. 1 Million. He is the only person won 1st place twice in SLT Speedup History.  Viran Ramesh of Sri Lanka Port Authority and Nihal Silva of Sri Lanka Navy were the Overall 1st Runner-up and Overall 2nd Runner-up winners respectively winning the prices of Rs 500,000/- and 300,000/-.

The women’s race overall winners: B.A.S.Dilhani of Sri Lanka Army, Dinesha Dilrukshi of Sri Lanka Airforce and U.N.Kumarasinghe of Sri Lanka Army secured top three overall winning positions securing prices of Rs. 250,000.00/-, Rs. 200,000.00/-, Rs. 125,000.00/- respectively.

The junior race  winners: T.V.K.H. Dilmina of Staternil Cycling CLub, K.D.Keshan Madhuranga of Silver Star Cycling Club and A.Dinusha Saranga of Kelani Cycling Cub secured top three winning positions securing prices of Rs. 100,000.00/-, Rs. 70,000.00/-, Rs. 50,000.00/- respectively.

The winning price and the trophy presented to winners in the presence of the Group Chairman of SLT, Mr. P G Kumarasinghe Sirisena, , Chief Executive Officer of SLT Mr. Kiththi Perera, Chief Operating Officer of SLT Mr. Priyantha Fernandez ,Chief Marketing Officer of SLT Mr. Prabhath Dahanayake and Representatives of CFSL. Several other senior officials and employees of SLT attended the price giving ceremony.

The men’s race started on 25th of September from Galle Face Green Colombo and met the finish line on 28th of September in Dambulla completing 813km long journey.  The women’s race held on 27th & 28th September a two-day race travelled from Colombo to Dambulla covering a long distance of 143km. The first-ever competitive cycling event for juniors, started from Dambulla and travel through Kakirawa, Habarana & then back to Dambulla covering a distance of 75km held on 28th September.

Sri Lanka Navy has been won the Men’s Overall Best team award. Viran Ramesh of Sri Lanka Port Authority has achieved the King of the mountain, Chamika Sandun Kumara of Sri Lanka Navy won the Best Sprinter , Prabash Madushanka of Sri Lanka Navy won the Best Young Rider positions and received Rs: 100,000/= for each categeries.

Sri Lanka Army has been won the Women’s Overall Best team award.. B.A.S.Dilhani of Sri Lanka Army has achieved women’s race Best Sprinter award. U.N.Kumarasinghe of Sri Lanka Army won the Best Young Rider and V.A.A.Sandamini of Sri Lanka Army won the King of Mountain positions with Rs.20,000/= cash prize for each categories respectively.
