Interbrand Sri Lanka CEO Michel Nugawela delivered the end-of-year presentation to the Sri Lanka Export Development Board on how leaders and brands access their authentic selves. The three-hour talk explored his mind-clarifying work in smart, symbolic and strategic power, how these are related to conscious and unconscious processes similar to Daniel Kahneman’s System 1 and System 2, and how leaders achieve “processing fluency” through a process of life-long awareness and experience. The presentation also included motivational drivers across childhood, mid-life and maturity in our lifecycle; need-states in the daily roles individuals play as leaders, followers, and consumers; and archetypal pattern recognition.
