Chinese Dragon Café, the leading restaurant brand known for Sri Lankan-style Chinese cuisine, has opened a temporary outlet at the Alpine Hotel in Nuwara Eliya for the month of April. The move aims to serve both long-time customers and tourists visiting the hill country during the Avurudu season. The outlet has already begun drawing attention from both residents and holidaymakers looking to enjoy their favourite dishes in the cool climate of Nuwara Eliya. This seasonal branch is a strategic extension of the brand, especially with many Colombo-based customers visiting the area with their families during the April holidays. The menu at the temporary outlet includes many of the brand’s signature items such as seafood fried rice, fried noodles, tom yum soup, hot butter cuttlefish, and crispy spring rolls. The restaurant has also introduced free delivery within the Nuwara Eliya area, making it easier for guests staying in hotels, holiday homes, or bungalows to enjoy their meals without having to travel.
This is the first time Chinese Dragon Cafe has opened a seasonal outlet in Nuwara Eliya, and it comes at a time when the town is filled with both local and foreign tourists enjoying the cool weather and festive mood. Local residents have also responded enthusiastically. Many say they’ve heard of the brand but hadn’t had the chance to try it until now. “It’s nice to finally taste food from a place we’ve heard so much about,” one customer said. “We wanted to bring the Chinese Dragon experience to where our customers are. The feedback so far has been very positive. People are happy to see a familiar name in a popular holiday destination like Nuwara Eliya. This outlet will remain open throughout April. Whether it becomes a recurring seasonal feature will depend on the response, but for now, it’s offering visitors a familiar and flavourful option.” said Chinese Dragon Cafe’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Gayan Fernando.
