The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka (MMCA Sri Lanka) has announced an exciting lineup of public programmes for March 2025. These events provide art lovers of all ages with unique opportunities to connect with the third rotation of the museum’s current exhibition, ‘Total Landscaping’. From engaging Curators Tours to unique painting workshops, the MMCA Sri Lanka has something for everyone to help them explore the transformative power of art.
A highlight among these public programmes is the MMCA Sri Lanka’s first-ever Sip and Paint event, which will be held on Saturday, 22 March, from 3 to 5 pm. As the first workshop for Rotation 3 of ‘Total Landscaping’, this event is held in collaboration with artDÖTink for participants aged 16 and above. Artist Irasha Zavahir from artDÖTink will guide all participants to create their own landscape paintings inspired by the artworks on display in ‘Total Landscaping’ Rotation 3, and participants will be served non-alcoholic beverages while they enjoy an afternoon of creativity, relaxation, and inspiration. This is a paid event, and more information on registration can be obtained through the MMCA Sri Lanka’s website and their Eventbrite, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner, this workshop will give you an opportunity to unwind, sip on a delicious beverage, and unleash your inner creativity. Spots are limited for this first-of-its-kind event, so those interested in joining this workshop are encouraged to reach out to the MMCA Sri Lanka on their social media pages and register soon!
The Curators Tours led by the curators of ‘Total Landscaping’ are perfect for those who are eager to gain deeper insights into the exhibition. These tours provide a chance to explore the exhibition’s themes, artworks, and narratives while directly engaging with those who conceptualised and brought it together. Join Sandev Handy, Senior Curator at the MMCA Sri Lanka, on Sunday, 16 March, or Saturday, 29 March, from 11 am to 12 pm, and Thinal Sajeewa, Assistant Curator at MMCA Sri Lanka, on Sunday, 23 March, from 11 am to 12 pm for an engaging tour. All Curators’ Tours are free of charge.
Admission to the museum is free, making it an ideal destination for cultural enrichment.
