
The inauguration ceremony of the three-day ‘Science and Industrial Technology Fair-2025’ organized by Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) from 24-26 February was held on Monday morning, 24 February, at BCSIR Campus, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
Senior Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Md. Mokabbir Hossain, was present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. Md. Delwar Hossain, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, was present as the special guest. The function was presided over by BCSIR Chairman Dr. Samina Ahmed.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by members of the council, directors of various units in Dhaka, research coordinators, BCSIR secretary, scientists, engineers, officers and employees.
Also present were guests from various institutions, teachers, students, and innovators participating in the fair.
At the inaugural ceremony, the chief guest, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Md. Mokabbir Hossain, said, “We did not have such opportunities during our time to show the progress these young, tender children (little scientists) have been able to make.”
The Industrial Technology Fair will play a more effective role in the country’s world of discovery in the future, surpassing the current times. He reminded everyone present that the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) is the first government research institution in Bangladesh. He expressed the hope that the scientists here (BCSIR) will be able to engage in their own research from that position.
Special guest Md. Delwar Hossain, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology. He said that young scientists from different parts of the country have been able to come together under one umbrella and express their innovative power through the Science and Industrial Technology Fair. The new research exhibited at the BCSIR Science Fair will play a special role in creating advanced processes or patents through more multi-dimensional research.
In her presidential address, BCSIR Chairman Dr. Samina Ahmed said to the young scientists, “You will lead the nation-building of the future. BCSIR conducts various activities to create capable leadership for nation-building and to build a science-minded nation through scientific practice. Today’s Science and Industry Technology Fair is just an attempt at those activities.”
Organized over 3 days (February 24-26, 2025), the Mini Science Fair showcased 66 science projects from various groups, with around 200 young scientists participating. In addition, several institutions and organizations of the Ministry of Science and Technology showcased their activities to the visitors present at the fair.
BCSIR Science and Industry Technology Fair-2025 Information:
A-Group (6th to 8th grade) – Total projects 21 and educational institutions – 19, participants – 76: B-Group (9th to 10th grade) – Total projects 15 and educational institutions – 15, participants – 60: C-Group (11th to 12th grade) – Total projects 18 and educational institutions – 17, participants – 58: D-Group (self-taught scientists) – Total projects 2 and participants – 8.
In addition, there are 7 stalls of businesses adopting BCSIR’s methods/processes. There are 4 stalls of other government institutions of the Ministry of Science and Industry Technology.
