DIMO, a leading diversified conglomerate in Sri Lanka, marked a significant milestone in its journey, by celebrating over a decade of continuous growth and collaboration with Great Place to Work (GPTW) Sri Lanka.

GPTW’s tools assisted in comprehension of our organizational intricacies, leadership dynamics, and workforce ethos and has been instrumental in navigating challenges and augmenting business performance. Their collaboration in advancing organizational culture has significantly contributed to improving DIMO’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP), refining HR and people processes, enhancing employee experiences, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and engagement,” stated Dilrukshi Kurukulasuriya, Executive Director and Chief Human Resources Officer of DIMO.

Transforming Workplace Culture – She explained that insights from GPTW surveys provided a platform for employees to voice their opinions, enabling DIMO to tailor its offerings to better align with employee needs. The analysis of survey data identified areas of strength and improvement within organizational culture. “Sustaining a regular feedback mechanism through the annual GPTW survey has empowered us to take prompt action, maintain credibility and foster a culture of open communication and transparency, resulting in higher productivity, innovation, and overall job satisfaction,” noted Dilrukshi.

Impact on Organizational Performance – She further added ‘There is a strong positive correlation between employee engagement scores and organizational performance at DIMO. Our data consistently showed that business units with high employee engagement scores outperformed others in productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This correlation underscores the importance of prioritizing employee engagement and well-being as integral drivers of organizational successes.’

Enhanced Employee Retention and Boosting Recruitment Efforts- By cultivating a culture of trust and inclusivity, turnover rates have decreased as employees felt a sense of belonging, value and saw opportunities for advancement. The sustained recognition as a ‘Best Workplace in Sri Lanka’ over a decade has also positively impacted DIMO’s recruitment efforts, attracting high-quality talent and bolstering its employer brand,” she stated.

Leadership and Management Development – Dilrukshi also emphasized that GPTW services have played a pivotal role in improving leadership and management effectiveness at DIMO. Manager scorecards from Dual Perspective Survey feedback reports provided actionable insights, allowing us to tailor training and coaching programs for targeted leadership skill development and align managers with DIMOs values and culture.

Recognized as Best in Bold Acts of Leadership / Movement Leadership for 2024– DIMO was distinguished at the GPTW Best Workplaces annual Gala Awards ceremony in 2024 by winning the coveted ‘Cube Award’ for its unity in action towards building ‘One Sri Lanka’ through sustainable initiatives. The Cube Award is bestowed on Best Workplaces that have committed to a vision to go beyond simply achieving business performance and focus on long-term sustainability and a significant positive impact on the community. DIMOs efforts included initiatives contributing to energy sustainability, local community socio-economic development, addressing water scarcity and environmental stewardship projects as well as driving greater sustainability within its operations, partnerships and product offerings.

Kshanika Ratnayaka, Director / CEO of Great Place to Work® Sri Lanka, stated, “Our decade-long partnership with DIMO exemplifies the impact of a committed collaboration aimed at fostering a thriving workplace culture. DIMO’s dedication to continuous improvement and their proactive approach to employee engagement have been truly inspiring. We are proud to support their journey and look forward to further advancements together.”
