SLIIT opens 2025 Main Intake inviting students to ‘Evolve Beyond’

The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), ranked as the country’s leading non-state higher education institution, has opened admissions for its 2025 Main Intake, inviting students to explore a diverse range of undergraduate degree programs designed to meet evolving industry demands.

Established in 1999 and approved by the Ministry of Education and University Grants Commission (UGC), SLIIT has built a strong legacy of academic excellence of over 25 years. SLIIT has four campuses located in Malabe, Colombo, Kandy, and Jaffna, along with two centers in Matara and Kurunegala, providing widespread of education access across the country.

The institution holds the distinction of being Sri Lanka’s premier number one non-state higher education institution and shares third place among all universities nationwide according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025. Adding to these accolades, SLIIT has secured the top position in the AD Scientific Index World Young University Ranking 2025. The institute’s global recognition extends to its membership in prestigious bodies including the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the International Association of Universities (IAU).

The Faculty of Computing stands at the forefront of technological education, recognizing AI as the future of education and innovation, introducing a groundbreaking 4-year degree program in BSc (Hons) in Information Technology Specialising in Artificial Intelligence to complement its extensive range of specialisations. Students can also pursue degrees in BSc (Hons) in Information Technology Specialising in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Systems & Network Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems Engineering and Interactive Media. And BSc (Hons) in Computer Science or BSc (Hons) in Computer Systems Engineering. These degree programs are Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and are meticulously designed to align with industry demands and emerging technologies.

The SLIIT Business School, who is a member of AACSB offers innovative, career-focused programs designed to prepare students for the dynamic business world, with a curriculum that emphasizes practical skills and industry relevance. Students can obtain degrees in BBA (Hons) Specialising in Business Analytics, Business Management, Human Capital Management, Marketing Management, Accounting & Finance, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Management Information Systems and Quality Management. In addition, the SLIIT Business School offers the BSc (Hons) Fashion Business and Management degree in collaboration with Manchester Fashion Institute of Manchester Metropolitan University, UK to equip students with the skills to thrive in the evolving fashion industry.

The Faculty of Engineering offers degrees in BSc Engineering (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics Specialisation). The BSc Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and BSc Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering degree programmes have a conditional recognition from the Institute of Engineers in Sri Lanka (IESL). The faculty delivers comprehensive programs, blending theoretical expertise with hands-on practical experience. The BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying is offered by SLIIT in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University, UK.

The Faculty of Humanities and Sciences has expanded its offerings with the new 4-year local degree programs in BSc (Hons) Psychology, LLB (Hons) and BA (Hons) English. The faculty’s diverse portfolio includes Bed (Hons) degrees in Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, English, Social Sciences and BSc (Hons) degrees in Biotechnology & Financial Mathematics and Applied Statistics. Also, it offers a Higher Diploma in Nursing, the pathway to Bachelor of Nursing Degree programme of Deakin University, Australia. This programme is accredited for National Vocational Qualification Level 6 (NVQ L6) by Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka.

The SLIIT School of Architecture has received Part 1 full accreditation for BSC (Hons) Architecture programme, from Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA). In addition, the school offer the BA (Hons) Interior Design, both degrees are delivered in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University, UK. The program focuses on developing design expertise, technical proficiency, and sustainable practices.

SLIIT’s International Programs have expanded significantly with the landmark introduction of Sri Lanka’s first Australian degree in Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence (AI), launched with Deakin University, Australia. This marks the first time the degree can be fully completed in Sri Lanka.  Students benefit from the best of academic and student life with multidisciplinary faculties, recreational facilities, and affiliations with leading global universities such as The University of Queensland – Australia, Deakin University – Australia, Curtin University – Australia, The University of Western Australia – Australia, Liverpool John Moores University – UK and The University of Edinburgh – UK, along with other top 100 ranked universities worldwide for global transfer pathways.

In collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University, UK, SLIIT offers the 3-year degree programs in BSc (Hons) Psychology, LLB (Hons) Law, BSc (Hons) Architecture, BA (Hons) Interior Design, BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying, and Bachelor of Business Administration. Students can also obtain the BSc (Hons) Fashion Business and Management degree in collaboration with Manchester Fashion Institute of Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.

SLIIT’s commitment to excellence extends beyond academics to its infrastructure and facilities. The recently opened Library Learning Commons at the Malabe Campus provides a technology-driven learning environment focused on research and collaboration. The institute offers comprehensive sports facilities including a well-equipped gym and over 20+ sports options. Students can engage in various extracurricular activities via numerous clubs and societies focused on technology, arts, sports, and entrepreneurial initiatives. SLIIT also provides support services like Counseling & Well-Being, Shuttle Services, Medical Facility, Career Guidance and many more.
