USA delegation meets Dhaka University Vice Chancellor

A Five-member delegation led by Professor Dr. James J. Shawer of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, met with Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan at his office on Sunday 12 January 2025. The other members of the delegation were Professor Dr. Benjamin De Foy of Saint Louis University, Associate Professors Gilliam Baumgartner and Martha Lee of McGill University, Canada, and Amy Cass, Economic Officer of the US Embassy in Dhaka. Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dhaka University, was present at the meeting.

 



 

During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest, especially strengthening the ongoing joint collaborative education and research activities between Dhaka University and various universities in the areas of air quality, public health, social equity, climate change and environment. During this time, the exchange of visiting professors between Dhaka University and various universities in the United States was also discussed. In addition, they discussed organizing online classes for Dhaka University students under the guidance of visiting professors from the United States.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan sought the cooperation of the US delegation in organizing an academic seminar and symposium on the July Uprising, a joint initiative of Dhaka University and various universities in the USA.
