HNB Finance inspires young minds with ‘’Yalu Daskam’’ Art Workshop’ in Homagama

In line with its commitment to nurturing the creative talents and attitudes of young learners, HNB Finance PLC recently conducted the HNB Finance ”Yalu Daskam” Art Workshop at President’s College, Homagama. The event was organized as part of the Company’s ongoing Sustainability  initiatives, aimed at fostering holistic development among children. The workshop catered to Grade 4 students, providing them with an engaging platform to explore and enhance their artistic skills. Parents were also invited to attend the workshop, creating a collaborative and inspiring environment for the young participants. The initiative was fully funded by the HNB Finance Yalu Children’s Savings Account.

 



 

The HNB Finance ”Yalu Daskam” Art Workshop featured an inspiring session led by Mr. Dayawansa Kumasaru, the former Advisor for the Arts subject at the Ministry of Education. With his extensive expertise, Mr.Kumasaru encouraged and educated the students on the fundamentals of art, focusing on creative thinking, the use of shapes, and the expressive power of colors. During the workshop, Mr. Kumasaru commended the creativity and artistic expressions of the children, recognizing their talents in the presence of their parents. As a gesture of encouragement, each participant was awarded a prize and a certificate of appreciation from HNB Finance PLC. To further instill the habit of saving from an early age, HNB Finance also opened Yalu Children’s Savings Accounts for all young participants, accompanied by an initial financial deposit for each student. This initiative reflects the organization’s dedication to supporting both the artistic growth and financial literacy of Sri Lanka’s younger generation.

Commenting on the workshop, Udara Gunasinghe, Head of Marketing at HNB Finance, commended the initiative and its positive impact. “The HNB Finance ”Yalu Daskam” Art Workshop is one of the flagship initiatives under our CSR projects. We believe this program plays a pivotal role in identifying, nurturing, and encouraging the creative talents of children,” he stated. He further highlighted the organization’s vision to extend the reach of the program. “Our goal is to expand this project into an island-wide school initiative in the near future,” Gunasinghe added, emphasizing HNB Finance’s dedication to empowering young minds through meaningful and sustainable educational and creative initiatives.
