The 8th International BABHASI Film Festival-2024 concluded with a grand ceremony on Tuesday evening. The closing and award distribution ceremony was attended by prominent guests, including cultural personality Pirzada Shahidul Harun and Chief Justice Siddiqueur Rahman Mia (Appellate Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh). The event was held at the Central Kochi-Kanchar Mela in the capital.
The BABHASI Film Festival jury board consisted of director and producer Naznin Hasan Khan, playwright and producer Faridul Islam Rubel, playwright and producer Arpona Rani Rajbongshi, director and producer Rakibul Hasan Shoel (RH Shoel), and actor, playwright, and director Enayet Ullah Syed (Shipul Syed).
A total of 153 films were submitted from both domestic and international filmmakers. From these, 10 films were showcased, and awards were presented in five categories. The winners included: Best Actor: Khaled Hossain Chowdhury (for Bishwoshundori). Best Screenwriter: Kona Teresa Palma (for Prayoshchitto). Best Film Director: Miruz Khan Raj (for Morichika) Best Music Director: Mir Hasan Swapan (for Mayer Ichcha). Best Editor: Dulal Rahman (for Sorry).
Additionally, several journalists were honored for their contributions to journalism, including Masum Billah Rakib (Daily Jaijaidin), Nayeemi Zannat Bapti (Daily Sangbad), and Kudrat Ullah (Bhorer Kagoj).
