Cleantech (Pvt) Ltd, a leading provider of integrated waste management solutions, recently launched a ground-breaking project to encourage recycling and environmental sustainability in the suburban areas surrounding Rajagiriya, Angoda, Battaramulla, Narahenpita, and Kolonnawa. The main impact on these areas is a lack of recycling facilities and inappropriate waste dumping, which is a significant waste management issue. Taking this into account, Cleantech (Pvt) Ltd introduced an innovative electric bicycle fitted with a carriage, which is part of a pilot project, to deal with this matter. This e-bike will collect recyclable materials such as PET, plastic, electronic waste, and paper, directly from households and businesses in the area, which in turn, would help reduce pollution and promote a healtheir planet for future generations.

With the launch of this e-bike, the Rajagiriya Sampath Piyasa recycling hub is upgraded as a convenient center for environmentally responsible citizens and corporations to drop off their recyclables providing a responsible solution. The e-bikes’s capability to get through narrow streets and isolated areas makes it easier for households and businesses to take part in recycling efforts.

The ceremony for the launch of this e-bike was held in the presence of delegates from the Central Environmental Authority and the Sri Jaywardhanapura Kotte Municipal Council. The Deputy Director General of the Central Environmental Authority, Mr. Chathura Malwana, took part as the chief guest for this occasion. Representatives from the Kotte Municipal Council, USAID, Lumala Bicycles, and the Cleantech Management Team were also noteworthy attendees.

Rukitha Nanayakkara, CEO of Cleantech (Pvt) Ltd., expressed his enthusiasm for the new initiative, stating, “We think the e-bike program will be very helpful in solving the waste management issues that our communities are facing. We can lessen the environmental effect of waste and encourage businesses and residents to embrace more sustainable habits by making recycling easier to access and effortless. This e-bike pilot project is only the first step. In order to further improve our recycling efforts and cover a wider area, we intend to grow the fleet in the future.”

The door-to-door collecting service offered by the e-bike gives locals an easy and effective option to get rid of their recyclables. The e-bike also makes the environment cleaner and greener by lowering the need for large vehicles. This program is a big step in the direction of a more sustainable future where recycling is a regular occurrence.

Residents and businesses in the Rajagiriya, Angoda, Battaramulla, Narahenpita, and Kolonnawa regions are urged to take part in the e-bike recycling program by Cleantech (Pvt) Ltd. People can contribute to create a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations by properly disposing of recyclable materials.
