Amana Bank is honoured to announce its involvement in financing the recently inaugurated 10 MW ground mounted Kebitigollewa Solar Power Project, led by WindForce PLC. This solar power plant is a landmark achievement, as it is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka to be entirely operated by an all-woman technical team.

Situated in Hadagala, Kebitigollewa, within the Anuradhapura district, the plant covers 35 acres and is expected to produce 20.24 GWh of clean energy each year. The power generated will be transmitted via a new 12-kilometer transmission line, connecting the plant to the Kebitigollewa Gantry and further to the Vavuniya grid substation, strengthening Sri Lanka’s national grid.

This project is a milestone in promoting both green energy and female leadership in the tech-driven renewable energy sector. WindForce PLC’s decision to have an all-women technical team showcases the vital role women play in driving progress in clean energy solutions. As part of its commitment towards a greener national grid, Amana Bank has financed many renewable energy projects across solar, hydro, biomass and wind, including the recently commissioned ground mounted Horana Solar power plant.

Commenting on the partnership, Amana Bank’s Vice President – Business Banking, Irshad Iqbal stated, “Supporting the Kebitigollewa Solar Power Project reflects Amana Bank’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable growth in Sri Lanka. This project not only helps power a greener grid but also promotes women empowerment in a key industry which we are truly honoured to be a part of. At Amana Bank, we continue to contribute to a cleaner, greener future by financing sustainable infrastructure that benefits both the environment and society.”
