Darin Weerasinghe 1st Sri Lankan Athlete to Compete in World Masters Powerlifting

Colombo, Friday 11th October 2024: Decorated powerlifter and race car driver Darin Weerasinghe has been selected to compete in the World Masters Powerlifting Championships that is currently underway in Sun City, South Africa. Weerasinghe is the first Sri Lankan athlete to have been selected for this championship that is being held from the 6th to 13th of October.
 



 
The competition which has been running for more than 40 years will see 487 of the best Powerlifters compete this year. Weerasinghe will be competing in the 120kg Equip Master Category 1 and will attempt to secure a World Medal for Sri Lanka when he competes on Sunday 13th October 2024.

Darin is a 7-time Sri Lanka National Powerlifting Champion, Asian Bench Press Champion, and Commonwealth Champion. His most recent accolades include a Silver medal at the Asian Powerlifting Championships held early this year.
