For a city that loves its food, gastronomic delights are plentiful all around Colombo. Competing with established brands and winning can be difficult but with a taste that stands out and perseverance to bear challenges – Kattu Mittu Achcharu Hut has carved its own niche.
When Amna Anas, a mother of two, launched her business venture in 2011 to serve traditional ‘achcharu’ to Sri Lankan households on a small scale, she got mixed results. To boost sales and strengthen brand recognition, she registered her venture with Uber Eats and there’s been no looking back. Having grown from a home kitchen to three outlets in Colombo, hers is a thriving business today with a loyal customer base.
She says: “We credit our accelerated success to Uber Eats. With its large user base and delivery network, our brand got a tremendous push and became a household name. We’ve streamlined our accounting process and have been able to handle a higher volume of deliveries efficiently – thanks to the platform. During COVID and the subsequent economic crisis, Uber Eats helped keep the lights on and we’ve survived and thrived with their support.“
She also highlighted how the feedback and data provided by Uber Eats has played a crucial role in shaping Kattu Mittu Achcharu Hut’s menu offerings and business strategy. Through the user-friendly dashboard, food partners receive valuable insights into their customers, including details on repeat customers and new customer trends. Additionally, outlets can respond to customer reviews and directly engage with patrons, helping to build a strong connection.
Amna wanted a platform partner that can match their speed. Apart from streamlined logistics and timely deliveries, Uber Eats has also impressed her with its pace. Typically, Kattu Mittu Achcharu Hut maintains a swift kitchen operation, preparing orders in just five minutes. Uber Eats promptly assigns delivery partners, ensuring customers receive their orders within a matter of minutes. This efficient process guarantees customers receive fresh and delicious treats in a short time.
“We take pride in our fast kitchen operations, and Uber Eats has matched us step for step. As Sri Lanka’s leading food and grocery platform, the association has helped us influence new and retain existing customers. The convenient review system and a user-friendly app have made it easy for customers to order from us and we’ve benefited from feedback too. We’ve witnessed a surge in repeat customers and increased customer satisfaction. Today, up to 70% of our total volume of orders is handled via Uber Eats,” she adds.
Amna is delighted that her efforts have paid off but is in no mood to slow down. She has big plans to expand to more outlets and believes that Uber Eats will continue to play a stellar role in her success.
