Huawei Announces Plan to Bring AI to Networks to Elevate Network Productivity

Eric Zhao unveiling the plan to bring AI to networks

Huawei unveiled an AI integration plan for networks, aimed at enhancing productivity through an ecosystem of RAN Intelligent Agents. The initial phase targets training 1,000 site engineers and deploying solutions across 10,000 sites across Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Bangkok, Jinan, and Shenzhen within a half year.

At the MWC Shanghai 2024, Huawei’s Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Wireless Solutions unveiled this plan during the 5G-A & AI Roundtable.

After three years of dedicated effort, the telecom sector has transformed 5G-A from vision to reality, marking 2024 as its inaugural year in commercial deployment. 5G-A has made significant strides in network, business, and device advancements. However, mobile networks now confront increasing challenges in complex O&M, varied network characteristics, and diverse user-driven operations. Addressing these challenges, Huawei advocates integrating AI into networks through RAN Intelligent Agents to revolutionize network O&M, user experience, and service delivery. This approach promises to enhance network productivity with role-based chatbots and scenario-based automation agents.

“Our goal is to bring AI to networks. To achieve this, we will, for our part, shift from a solution provider to a co-builder of intelligent networks. We believe that the co-growth of RAN Intelligent Agent and networks will create more extensive business value, transform networks more rapidly, and lead our industry into a new era of intelligence,” Zhao concluded.

MWC Shanghai 2024 will be held from June 26 to June 28 in Shanghai, China. During the event, Huawei will showcase its latest products and solutions at stands E10 and E50 in Hall N1 of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).

2024 will mark the first year of commercial 5.5G, and F5.5G gigabit optical network deployment has already begun. Synergies across networks, cloud, and intelligence are set to give rise to pervasive intelligent applications and increasingly diverse user experiences. Together with global operators, industry professionals, and opinion leaders, Huawei will dive into exciting topics at this year’s MWC Shanghai, like how to amplify 5G’s success in the 5.5G era and how to tap into the potential of operator revenue growth to bring us even faster to the intelligent world.
