The Closing Ceremony of the 7th DRMC International Tech Carnival 2024

State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed said that Dhaka Residential Model College will be created as an area for creating future smart citizens and leadership for the development of Smart Bangladesh announced by the Prime Minister. He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will establish a ‘Sheikh Jamal Innovation and Research Lab’ at Dhaka Residential Model College at a cost of Tk 18 crore to give the country’s young researchers and innovators a greater scope of research. He also said that fabrication lab and another specialized lab complete with latest technology will be established.

The State Minister made these remarks in his chief guest speech at the closing ceremony of the “7th DRMC International Tech Carnival 2024” organized by the Department of Information and Communication Technology at Dhaka Residential Model College on Sunday, 12 May 2024.

 



 

State Minister Palak said that for future research and innovation, in addition to the students of these institutions, small innovators and researchers from other institutions in Bangladesh will also get research opportunities in these centers. We want to move forward with a whole of government approach to build a smart Bangladesh of the future. Where no one is left behind. We want to make every one of our young generation equal opportunities and creative and innovative smart citizens. He said that in order to create smart citizens in smart Bangladesh, it is not only in the textbooks, but we have to open the doors that are open for acquiring knowledge.

The state minister challenged the students and said, I want a gift from you for one of my digital twins from this International Tech Carnival next year. The digital twins you create. Which should look like a wink, will speak in a wink’s voice and answer any question as an AI brain.

Apart from this, the freedom fighter martyr Shaheed Sheikh Jamal will be sponsored in Innovation Grand every year from the state minister idea project and 50 lakh rupees will be paid every year for organizing large-scale events, he said.

Brigadier General Kazi Shamim Farhad, principal of Dhaka Residential Model College, spoke among others, IDEA project director Mohammad Anwar Hossain, chief coordinator associate professor Mohammad Noorunnabi, assistant professor and carnival convener Russell Ahmed.

Earlier, an agreement was signed between IDEA Project and Dhaka Residential Model College in the presence of Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak to work on innovation development.

It is to be noted that the online startup submission in this carnival started from 13th February 2024 and lasted until 01st April 2024 and the top ten innovation grants participating in the competition were in the startup display held on 09th, 10th and 11th May 2024. Besides, more than 6000 students from more than 400 famous schools, colleges and universities of the country participated in events such as innovation project display, programming contest, website display, line following robot, logo design, tech article writing etc. The second son of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the brave freedom fighter martyred Lt. Commemorating the memory of Sheikh Jamal, the 1st place winner of this event, 2nd place winner, 3 lakh rupees and 3rd place winner, 2 lakh rupees, and 1 lakh rupees for each of the next 10 startups, Sheikh Jamal Innovation Grant- 2024 idea project paying a total of 20 lakh rupees.
