02nd April 2024 – Colombo: Orient Finance, a member of the Janashakthi Group, announces the appointment of Manohari Abeyesekera as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Company’s Board of Directors, effective from 26th March 2024.
Manohari is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant with over 20 years of post-qualification experience in leadership C-suite executive positions in both the private and state sectors in Sri Lanka. She currently serves as a Global Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA UK), a Council Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID), and a Board Member of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board (SLASSMB), which serves as a regulator.
Additionally, Manohari serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Kapruka Holdings PLC. She completed a three-year term in January 2023 as an Independent Non-Executive Director/Chairperson of the Audit Committee of the National Savings Bank (NSB), Sri Lanka’s largest state-owned savings bank, and its fully-owned subsidiary NSB Fund Management.
Previously, Manohari has held multiple leadership roles during her 18-year tenure (2002-2020) with the Hayleys Group. She was associated with Hayleys PLC, the parent company, and served as the Head of Strategic Business Development until May 2019. In May 2019, she was appointed as the Director of Strategy & Business Development at Fentons Limited, the engineering arm of the Hayleys Group. Manohari also served as a Director of Hayleys Group Services (Pvt) Ltd, the Group’s Company Secretarial arm, from 2012 to 2020.
With this appointment, the Orient Finance PLC Board comprises Rajendra Theagarajah (Chairman), K.M.M. Jabir (Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer), Prakash Schaffter, Minette Perera, Indrani Goonesekera, Sriyan Cooray, Darshana Ratnayake, Nalin Karunaratne, and Manohari Abeyesekera.
