The scholarship offers a paid internship providing invaluable hands-on industry experience, enhancing potential candidates with technical skills, inclusive of an allowance to facilitate scholars in pursuing advanced educational programmes, including degree studies.
99x is committed to shaping the future of Sri Lanka’s tech talent by investing in the brightest minds in their educational journey and providing them with the necessary tools and exposure to thrive in the tech industry. By bridging the gap between academics and real-world experience to shape a bright future for the tech sector, this initiative further addresses the fast-paced and dynamic job market, where the demand for industry-ready talent intensifies daily. The programme offers students the opportunity to kick-start their careers while pursuing their degrees and provides the advantage of graduating with 5 years of industry experience. Ideal candidates can choose between two attractive options: a scholarship for a degree programme valued at up to LKR 2.5 million or a starting monthly study allowance of LKR 100,000 while gaining industry experience at 99x.
99x recently participated in the SLASSCOM National IT & BPM Career Week 2023 which has generated significant interest in the academy program and resulting in a notable increase in applications. To date, over 1,000 aspiring tech stars have expressed their interest to join the academy program.
The 99x Academy provides candidates with pathways through scholarship opportunities, paid internships, and mentorships. This, in turn, contributes to Sri Lanka’s economic success as a youthful nation with a young workforce that bridges the brain drain gap currently prevalent in the country. The selection process consists of two simple steps, candidates undergo an initial screening, and shortlisted candidates will receive assignments to assess their capabilities. By becoming a part of the 99x academic community, candidates qualify to begin their academic careers with a one-year paid internship. Selected students will gain practical industry experience, and following a successful first year, they will advance to the position of Associate Engineer at 99x.
