Sri Lanka College of Oncologists, which is the apex academic body for all cancer physicians in Sri Lanka will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year. In Celebration of this significant milestone multiple academic events have been organized this week culminating in the SLCO Academic Sessions 2023 which will be held at Hotel Galadari from 13th – 15th October 2023. Inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be held on 13th October, under the patronage of Emeritus Professor Janaka De Silva, former Director of the Post graduate Institute of Medicine and former Chair Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Kelaniya.
The theme of this year’s sessions is “Resilience, innovation and Excellence” which is reflected in the academic program where the focus is on attaining and maintaining best possible patient care through innovative thinking even in the challenging times the country is faced with. The academic sessions will cover the whole spectrum of cancer care ranging from basic sciences, applied oncology, onco-surgery, supportive care, incorporating patient perspectives into cancer care etc. Over 300 delegates representing physicians, nurses, physicists, pharmacists, radiotherapy technicians involved in care of patients with cancer are expected to participate in the academic programs which will be conducted by a panel of world renowned international and local faculty.
