The ‘1st National Peace Festival’ was Celebrated at the Student-Teacher Center on 01 February 2025 Saturday, at the initiative of the Alumni Association of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, Dhaka University. Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice-Chancellor, Dhaka University inaugurated the festival as the chief guest.
The event, chaired by the President of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies Alumni Association, Shakera Khatun, was attended by the University Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, the Chairman of the Department Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Sajjad Hossain Siddiqui, and the General Secretary of the Association Kazi Arfan Ashiq, along with teachers, students and alumni of the department.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said, the teachers, students and alumni of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies of Dhaka University are playing an important role in establishing peace and harmony in the society. He said, we are going through a difficult time. Various conspiracies are going on to create division among people. At this time, everyone will have to confront these conspiracies together. He expressed hope that such festivals will play an important role in establishing peace in the society and removing division among people.
It is worth noting that this day-long festival is celebrated through various programs including roundtable discussions, art competitions, essay competitions, film screenings, peace rallies, concerts, reunions, and prize distribution for various competitions.
